Aerodynamic shape optimization of co-flow jet airfoil using a multi-island genetic algorithm

The co-flow jet is a zero-net-mass-flux active flow control strategy and presents great potential to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of future fuel-efficient aircrafts. present work integrate technology into shape optimization further realize co-flow-jet airfoil performance. results show that maximum energy ratio lift augmentation drag reduction increased by 203.53% ( α = 0°) 10.25% 10°) at Power-1 condition (power coefficient 0.3), respectively. A larger curvature observed near leading edge optimized shape, which leads early onset separation improves transfer from free stream. In addition, higher mid-chord characterized accelerating in middle airfoil, increasing strength negative pressure zone, thus improving stall margin enhancing circulation.
